Divine Details

There is nothing better than amazing architectural elements...
This molding and those floors

That arch...
Those beams!

I'll admit it... don't throw things at me... I initially wanted the wainscoting in my apartment removed... the developer was horrified. It just felt out of place in a new construction, city condo. They convinced me to keep it. Some days I love it. Others not so much. But it definitely adds character and thats something I definitely dont mind.

Do you have any amazing detailing in your home??

Oh and also... based on your AMAZING reaction to my vote post yesterday, I'm thinking I should do those everyday! Just kidddding, but seriously wow. And just so you all know... I think I'm going with A, but want to buy B for my bedroom. Someone want to finance my lighting addiction?

Have a fantastic weekend. Thank you so much for all of your encouraging comments this week. You are all seriously amazing. xoxo

  1. I live in a 1904 home that has lots of architectural details, high ceilings and tons of windows. Great architecture makes the room!

  2. I wish I had some amazing architecture in my own...its boring. Loving all of your selections here.

  3. My apartment doesn't have too much natural character (typical NYC new construction rental), but I got lucky with floor to ceiling windows! Have a good weekend, Alex. Xoxo

  4. I love architectural details, they really make a huge impact! I do wish I had more in my home!

  5. Love all the details! I can't wait to stay in one place for more than a couple of years to really add some pretty details.

  6. LOVE the arch. we have a similar (yet slightly smaller) one in our apt and its my fave. have a wonderful weekend! xoxo jcd :: cornflake dreams

  7. I have white brick and a lot of exposed air conditioning ducts. They don't exactly have the same appeal as exposed wood beams, but I don't mind them. It lends to the whole industrial loft space, I suppose. I like your wainscoting! I think it allows you to mix in more modern elements without being too modern.

  8. great idea on the chandeliers -- can't wait to see what they look like!
we removed ugly arches and columns from our living of these days, i'll post pics of the "after"..i think we forgot to take pics of the "before."
    have a lovely weekend!

  9. Lovely choice to keep it up darling. It really does add interest. xoxo

  10. Ahh GREAT choice to keep it up. My heart just melts for character in a home like that :) Happy weekend!!

  11. YAYYY for picking option A - we loved that one! And I agree- interesting architectural details are few and far between in most new construction these days. I feel lucky to have an arch separating my living and dining rooms... it's my favorite part of my house! I would say def keep your wainscoting! xo

  12. Oh Yay!!! I'm so glad you are getting B for your bedroom... just too fabulous to not have. As for architectural details in my house... I have a lot of wainscoting type paneling, but it's in that icky '80s honey oak color... I've been 'de-oaking' my house for far too long... it's the never ending project!

  13. I'm with you on the archetectural details...they can totally make a room...and that chandelier is going to be *amazeballs* in your dining room! (c: Have a great weekend!
