The Art Institute

So as you know, I went to The Art Institute this weekend. It was the perfect day for some inside activity with a beautiful weather report of 40 degrees and rain. So along with the entire city of Chicago, we went to the museum.

At your requests... here are some of my favorite pieces in the new modern wing:

Franz Kline

One of the only Cy Twomblys left from the opening exhibit

Light installation in front of Millenium Park on a disgusting Chicago day.

You better all really love this one, because I got in trouble for taking this picture!

We also ate at Terzo Piano, the new restaurant in the Modern Wing and it was unbelievable. I had a FEAST for lunch, so unnecessary. Thank you to City Girl Chicago for the rave review that pushed me to try it!

And Things That Sparkle now has a Facebook page, come "like" us!

  1. Beautiful! I especially like the third one down. I am so embarrassed to admit that I haven't been to the new modern wing yet. I really need to put that on my list of Chicago things to do this summer.

  2. That 2nd one is beautiful. Sadly I don't think I've been to the art institute since Central school field trips! Seriously shameful.

  8. I adore this museum and loved going there when I lived in Chicago. The modern wing is so cool--my favorites are the architectural drawings.

P.S. I totally take contraband pictures in museums...like every time I go! You're not alone :)

  17. I haven't been to the art institute for over a year and a half. I am thinking it might be time to go back, especially before we move. But there are other places that I haven't been to for longer - or at all - so this doesn't get top priority. But it's such a wonderful museum!
